چکیده

Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) is resistant to beta-lactam antibiotics, while some strains are multi-drug and may produce disease-causing toxins. Drug often responsible for chronic, persistent recurrent infections, which pose a challenge healthcare practitioners. Our study aimed determine the prevalence of nasal MRSA methicillin-resistant coagulase-negative staphylococci (MRCoNS) among school children in Mariental community, southern Namibia. This was cross-sectional District. Nasal specimens (swabs) were collected from 272 randomly selected learners aged 6–14 years attending area during months March, September October 2016. Isolation identification performed using standard microbiological methods. isolates identified by their resistance towards cefoxitin (30 µg) Kirby-Bauer disk diffusion assay. Enterotoxin production detected with SET-RPLA toxin detection kit. S. isolated 48 (17.6%) MRCoNS only seven (2.6%). colonization significantly higher (P = 0.003) age group 11–14 than 6–10 years. Among 433 staphylococcal screened resistance, 51 (11.8%) (1.6%) MRCoNS. From isolates, 22 (43.1%) six enterotoxigenic. first report on The presence potentially virulent Mariental, Namibia, concern. Self-infection these bacteria poses various health risks children. It recommended that programmes improve current hygiene practices. Frequent handwashing can prevent disease spread wider community.

Dissemination of methicillin-resistant staphylococci among healthy Japanese children.

Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), regarded as a tenacious pathogen in the hospital, has recently become increasingly prevalent as a community pathogen. We evaluated the prevalence and characteristics of methicillin-resistant staphylococci in the Japanese community by testing nasal samples of 818 children of five day care centers and two kindergartens in three districts. We fou...

Methicillin-resistant staphylococci.

Strains of staphylococci resistant to methicillin were identified immediately after introduction of this drug. Methicillin-resistant strains have unusual properties, the most notable of which is extreme variability in expression of the resistance trait. The conditions associated with this heterogeneous expression of resistance are described. Methicillin resistance is associated with production ...

Methicillin-resistant staphylococci.

Eighteen strains of Staph. pyogenes (nine penicillin-sensitive and nine penicillin-destroying) were passaged 40 to 50 times on Celbenin(1) ditch plates. All strains developed an increase in resistance to Celbenin and eight strains (four penicillin-sensitive and four penicillin-destroying) were able to grow in 100 mug/ml. or more Celbenin. Resistance was of the drug-tolerant type and none of the...

Prevalence of Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococci in Dogs

The aim of the study was to investigate the occurence and species distribution of methicillin resistant staphylococci (MRS) in the nasal cavity of dogs. Nasal swabs were collected from 162 dogs entering private veterinary clinics in Hatay. Methicillin resistance was detected onto mannitol salt agar containing 2 μg/ml oxacillin and confirmed by mecA Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR). Bacterial ide...
